In Philippians 2 we’re instructed to “count others more significant than yourselves.” That’s quite a command when we consider the pervasiveness of pride and selfishness within our own hearts. But Christ’s blood has freed us from the power of sin and “God is able to make all grace abound to you…so that…you may abound in every good work” (2 Cor. 9:8). We can be very ably equipped by the Holy Spirit to live this verse. For even the “Son of Man came not to be served but to serve” (Matt. 20:28). And this Son of Man is working inside of us, conforming us into His image.
Here’s an account of one woman’s identification of this selfishness and the joy-filled application of this verse.
