Recently we had lunch with friends from out of town. I was asking about their new church and pastor. What kind of series are they going through, if any? Does your pastor tip his hat to any particular author(s) – someone who has shaped his life and understanding of God, pastoral ministry, the Scriptures. “A couple of weeks ago he quoted something from a guy named … what was it? … oh, [you guessed it] Rob Bell.”
There it was again.
One of the most frequent questions I get, under the category of books and authors, would be about Rob Bell. Is his stuff good? I’m not a Bell expert by any means, but I do have some concerns about his writing and his teaching emphasis.
I have benefitted regularly from the book reviews from the guys over at 9Marks. This review series of Bell’s Nooma online ministry is helpful.
