On Monday, we read the first part of Eric Simmons’ article called Gray Matters. He gives 5 principles for growing in discernment: imitate God, distrust your heart, think biblically, involve others, and decide to worship. Here’s the second part of the article where he discusses the latter three.
May we seek to obey Romans 12:1-2 and sacrifice our entire self in worship to God – “holy and acceptable.” Do you see daily obedience to God and discernment of His will as an indicator of whether or not you are worshiping Him? He has saved our life from the pit, and He gives us the ability to know and obey Him. And obeying Him means we’re walking on the path of life. To obey God’s word is to search for joy and satisfaction. While it does cost us much, this discerning of His will should be our delight – not burden.
