Got intelligence on Iraq?

Within the next week or so our friend Eric Johnson will be heading over to serve a military post in Iraq. We need to pray for him. I’ve asked him whether it’d be possible to keep you guys up to date on a somewhat regular basis. He said something could be worked out, we’d just have to be careful with details. So, hopefully over the next several months you’ll hear more about how our friend is doing over there.

Well this issue is becomingly increasingly hot in the news media and in so-called barber shop politics around the country. So it seems like a good time to get up to date on things.

I recommend the audio interview and the suggestion that you download it to your ipod and take a walk.

The interviewee, Lawrence Wright, has written a watershed work on Al Qaeda, which won a Pulitzer prize last week. He is a graduate of our very own Tulane University and has been a long time contributing writer for The New Yorker. Hugh Hewitt describes Wright’s contribution to this issue this way:

“Every responsible public official with any part in the conduct or oversight of the war needs to read Wright –his book and his articles and his interviews. He is respected across the political spectrum and his reporting is superb.”
